Web Coordinator | September 2022 – June 2023
Developed website to document technical research journal production process, including visual, written, audible, and interactive AR elements
Claimed first place, collaborated within a female team of seven to produce 100+ perfect bound journals for the Helmut Kipphan Student Chapter Competition
TAGA Conference was held in Oklahoma City, OK from March 12–15, 2023
The team first decided on a journal theme of “Form Follows Function,” meaning functionality facilitates effective design. We aimed to prioritize accessibility and inclusivity during each step of production.
The journal bridged print and digital design to create a multi-sensory experience. The journal is inspired by Swiss design with a bold high-contrast color palette (see image). The typeface chosen was Neue Haas Grotesk to assist with legibility and readability.
Five articles were hand-selected based off of their quality of writing, content, and whether it would fit the “Form Follows Function” theme. Each article has an audio version (Descript) and an interactive Augmented Reality title page (RealityBLU).
We printed the journal guts in house using the EFI Fiery Command Workstation on the Konica Minolta. For the cover, binding, and packaging we teamed up with Poor Richard’s Press. The first photo is of me using the Duplo Binder 280, and the second is a couple teammates and myself manually folding the packaging.
A mockup of the cover/spread and a flat lay.
